DJ Gondra (Steven Crocker) was first introduced to electronic music in 2001 by a friend of his who simply said to him, "You have to hear this, I think you'll like it!" It was a radio station in Austin called MEGA 93.3, and it was the first Dance/House/Techno station to catch his attention. Unfortunately, in mid 2002 MEGA 93.3 switched their format to Hip Hop and R&B. Desperate to get his "Techno Fix", he began listening to online radio stations such as DI.fm and scourging P2P networks such as KaZaA for the beat that he has become accustomed to.
In 2003, he moved to College Station and began to immerse himself in the club scene where he met Matt Wattkins, who introduced him to the art of flag and fire spinning. He joined a local fire performance group called Taming Fire, where he spent a lot of late afternoons perfecting his moves. The club scene was slowly turning more mainstream and once again, he needed his fix. After a few trips to Dallas and Houston, where he learned about the underground, he finally found his home.
Pretty soon, it became too much of a financial burden to travel. Towards the end of the year in 2007, he decided to throw his first rave in College Station out of his own home. Despite the low turn out of between 3 and 12 people each time, it didn't stop him from continuing his movement. House raves such as cLOVErfield, Infinitum, and Broken were all staples which lead up to ADRENALINE, the true starting point of his career as an Amateur DJ. ADRENALINE was advertised as a house rave which caught the attention of club owner and entrepreneur Sukie Savant, who operated a new dance venue in Bryan, TX called H2O. In need of a DJ in short notice, he asked me to spin at his club. Two weeks before ADRENALINE (which was dated for August 28th, 2008), he inquired about moving the house rave to the venue and allowing free entry to all attendees who had originally planned on going to the house rave.
Teaming up with Space City Collective in Houston, TX, ADRENALINE was a huge success and a turning point of the EDM scene in Bryan / College Station. With the success of ADRENALINE, he worked with SCC to produce more events in the area such as Synthetic Dreams, Pixel Explosion (an 8-bit themed rave), Animate Yourself (a cartoon themed rave), as well as a few more house raves in between.
After working with DJs Jesus F Christ and The ArcAngel of Area 512 Entertainment at our event, Synthetic Dreams, DJ Gondra was returned the favor by being offered a DJ spot at the PANTS party thrown by Area 512 Entertainment. The dance floor was packed, and he was shortly asked back to spin at SHUFFLE 2, as well as other events through Texas such as IRRESPONSIBLE SUNDAYS, Underground Sound, and ROTN Frydaze.
DJ Gondra is motivated to keep you moving, and is ready to show you what it means to dance hard and enjoy life. Always a PLUR DJ.
